These are a few of My Favorite Things

The smell of summer’s first rain

The waft of wind across jasmine plants

The sound of a gushing waterfall

The dew of a mountainside

The stars in a desert sky

These are a few of my favorite things

Me?

I am to say something here;
of my thoughts and hopes and their history ;
for all to peep into me like water clear;
I shall divulge yet retain enough mystery;

I tried to list all of those;
in my life that I hold very dear;
a lot many things in my mind arose;
to my family and friends can none come near;

My every single memory I treasure;
the happy ones and the sadder too;
one brings me joys of no measure;
the other makes them more true;

I am an engineer by profession;
science and logic attract me;
yet,dreaming is my obsession;
and often i trek to infinity;

I know I cant touch the sky;
nor watch it lying on the sea;
but in my mind's eye I still try;
from the bounds of physics here I am free;

I'd love to ride on an eagle's back;
above mountains mighty;
or below the sea on a turtle's shack;
to see beyond infinity;

Alas, I am not Alice;
and I dont live in wonderland;
deadlines bring my life to crisis;
assignments due bring dreams to stand.
